Carb removal on 98 VN1500

Hi folks-
New to riding and mechanicing. Need to pull the carb on my VN1500 classic. I'm a bit stuck. What's the preferred way to loosen the throttle cables to pull the carb? I've been using a couple manuals but they seem a little vague. Also been searching for a good video to illustrate the carb removal process, but with little luck so far. Any suggestions?

It can be a bear, but I just fiddled with mine until they came off. The enricher cable screws out, the one set of cables attach with a screw on the side and then a ball and slot. Did you remove the gas tank? That helps.

Found this link in the 1500 forum by doing a search for the word carb. Might help?

Hi. I am having the exact same problem. I can't figure out how to remove the throttle cables from the carb. I have the service manuals, have asked several friends who work on bikes and searched all over the internet. I can't find anything to help.

Have you found out or have you any answers to your problem?

Sure could use some help.
