2003 meanstreak rear cylinder backfilre and misfire

Folks:

I have had this bike for about 10 years. It is a 1500 meanstreak. It has a hypercharger, a power commander, and a set of V&H longshots with no baffles. The power commander program is from Thunder Manufacturing in AZ. No changes have been made for about 5 years. Recently it began backfiring loudly. It is typically when I am slowing or coming back to idle. In addition it seems to misfire on the back cylinder at idle. I could use some advice from the group.

I would check the obvious first. Make sure the exhausts flange nuts are tight, and no gasket leaks. They can loosen up and cause popping and backfiring.

Well as an update I tried several things. First I unhooked the power commander with no change. Then I checked to be sure the ics tubes were still pluged, they are. I switched the injectors with no change. I checked to make certain the exhaust was tight, it is. I pulled the plugs and they are black. I replaced them and the new ones are black after 5 minutes. Air filter is clean and the flapper on the hypercharger is opening properly. I still have no idle, and am getting backfires. I could use some advice from the group.

1. How many miles on it?
2. Could you post a picture of the plugs?

Check your fuel pressure regulator.

This may be a stupid question but have you checked to make sure that your PC is actually functioning properly and is turning on? Mine recently bit the dust and I was getting the same issues. When I tried looking at what map was on it I discovered my PC had actually died. I called DynoJet and they are having me send it back and are sending me a new one at a discounted price.
