Clutch spline

Pretty sure the collar that holds my clutch spring should be snug to the clutch spring and it isnít. Does that spline move? Seems like I need it to be inward quite a bit?
Thanks

Did you put the spring and hub in before you put the outer ring on? The outer ring fits over the outside of the clutch hub and plates, then the limiter disks go on, then the spring and hub. That should result in the spring being against the inside ridge of the outer ring, holding it in place. Then you put THE NUT on and torque it down.

If you put the spring and hub on, tighten THE NUT, then install the outer ring....there's nothing for the spring to press against.....clutch won't work and there's nothing holding the outer ring on either.

DO NOT ASK ME HOW I KNOW THIS
