Does Rectifier need to be grounded to frame??

I want to relocate the rectifier on my Meanie to a plastic chin fairing. Does it need to be grounded to the frame? On my previous bike, a VTX1800, it had to be grounded.

Interesting question. On mine, I would say the answer is "no". Yours? Haven't a clue.

I've seen too many Vn750 RR relocations that were not grounded to think otherwise. But that is for my application. I don't know how yours is wired.

Electrically, no, but they can get quite hot, so bolting to a piece of plastic may not be a good idea.
Plus, bolting to metal helps to sync away some of that heat.
