Oil Question 1600 Nomad 2008

Hello,

I'm nervous to do my first oil change ever.. On any bike.. Do I just drain the oil/oil filter, lube up the fittings on the new filter, plug the tank and add oil?

I'm really petrified of something going wrong.. Any additional advice?

Unscrew the oil dipstick, lets out the pressure, unscrew your oil plug, my 1700 has two, find out if you have one or two, they're usually a few inches from each other, drain out the old oil, sit on bike for a minute so its level, a little more oil will come out, change your crush washer before re-tightening the drain plug, take off oil filter, wipe area well, pour a lttle oil in new filter, wipe the filters' rubber gasket with new oil, screw on, hand tight, then an extra quarter turn. Pour in new oil, all but a half quart, screw in dipstick, run bike for two minutes, check fluid level, add final half quart or whats needed. replace diptick, run engine, look for any leaks underneath bike....ride on....

I wish mine had a dip stick instead of the sight glass. Holding it level and seeing that glass is a real pain.
