Hi all, just bought a VN2 LT in white. Wondering what are the popular mods that people do. Is a power commander worth doing if it has aftermarket pipe and filter.
I am situated in North East England.

If its got aftermarket pipes and filter you'll have to do some kind of fuel processor or get the ECU flashed. i have the Power Commander 3 in mine. Mine has V&H Powershots with an aftermarket Kuryaken air filter assembly with a K&N filter.

Life. Nobody gets out alive.

Hmm.. I don't remember. Somebody help me out..

But I think the 5th gear bypass mod is useless on the 07's.

Anybody remember?

I believe that's correct. It only helps the '04 & '05, right?

My biggest fear is when I die, my wife will sell all my guitars for what I told her I paid for them.

Look into eurogears. Everyone here seems to rave about them, but my experience was that around town (where I do most of my riding) it can seem a little unruly. If you do much highway riding though, they're the bomb. Are we still saying that?

Yes, ‘04-‘06 for resistor mod. ‘07&’08 it doesn’t work (I am bummed about that)
PC 3 or 5 for fuel control. I have the PC5, and tried another.
If you ride 2-up, or carry gear, may have to inc erase the rear spring pre-load. (Mine is maxed).
Euro gears (yours may have them already) are the bomb. I have no rouble in-town, although as mentioned, some do... Really depends on your type of riding. In the US, with the possibility of multiple hours of high-speed cruising, they work well.
A 34 tooth sprocket is also an option. I am actually running both euro gears and the 1-tooth larger sprocket...
Factory seat may need help if you do loooong rides. Some get away with adding a sheepskin, some add gel padded sheepskin, some swap seats entirely. I modified mine with a “V” slot in the foam (front to rear), with a removable sheep-skin on top.
Trunks are an option for long excursions. Almost any can be adapted.
Same for highway pegs and highway bars. Nice-to-haves.
Some put on batwing fairings. I had one for a while, went back to factory windshield. The added weight wasn’t worth the marginal (IMNSHO) improvement in coverage or added radio...
ADD LOWERS if they aren’t there already. The larger the better.
Fog lights are always good, just so you can be more easily seen. Type, style, output really don’t matter as much as having a visual reminder to cagers that you are there.

Otherwise, maintain, change oil regularly and enjoy!
