Nitto NT450 225/55 R16 500mi.

Wanted to report on the first 500mi. on this tire. Also want to make it easier to find info about the tire by searching for it. Running the tire at 32psi. This tire fits with room to spare on the V2K.

Zero problems in 500mi. of mostly highway riding. I don't have before and after rear brake-only stopping distance measurements, but it takes a lot more force to skid the rear wheel with the brake on the Nitto than it did with the Avon Cobra. Did some riding in heavy rain with no issues at all. If anything, traction is better than with the MC tire.

I was actually very reluctant to mount this tire, but it has performed flawlessly so far.

I am running a 225 /60 R16 and it has very little room to the plastic that protects from dirt going to the frame/ rear shock/ battery area, already put about 8'000 miles on it (+ the miles the PO had already put on it) and it still has a LOT of life left in it, I can see another 10'000 out of that tire easy.

I still get a lot of starge looks from riders when they realize I'm ridding on the dark side, the only other bike I've seen in my town that's also dark side is my brother and that is oly cus he's ridding my previous bike (vulcan 1600) and I had it dark side when I sold it to him. He is still a little reluctant to keep it like that and probably will go to a bike tire after the about 15'000 miles it will take for him to wear out the car tire.

It's funny how easy it is to brainwash people with scare tactics. I wanted to post this information just to get it out there. Absolutely nothing wrong with running a car tire on a bike. Lots of people do it and have done so long before I did it, but I was very skeptical. I had to try it myself. All the people who repeat the same nonsense about car tires on bikes have no experience with them. They are just repeating what they've read or heard, trying to sound knowledgeable.

If more riders started wising up, they wouldn't be so easy to take advantage of. A bike tire costs 2 or 3 times what a car tire costs and comes with no warranty. Riders support this marketing. Why? A bike tire can easily be made to get 40k mi. life, sell for $100 and still make a reasonable profit. But this will never happen as long as riders are happy to pay double or triple for a tire that lasts one tenth of what it should.

And all the excuses for why bike tires can't have warranties and have to cost so much: It's like George Carlin said: "It's bullsh~t, and it's bad for you."

Until riders wake up to this tire company rip-off scam and demand quality tires at reasonable prices, I'll be running car tires.
