Humming sound is normal?

The thread regarding buzzing and no start reminded me that I had wanted to ask if the hum coming from (I think) the speedometer area is normal?

See attached clip at about the 44 second mark when the owner turns the key, you can hear a brief hum/buzz. My Vulcan does this and I'm assuming it is normal.

Other motorcycles I have owned in the past did not do this, but they also were older and/or didn't have the same speedometer setup as the my current bike (98 Vulcan 800).

Thanks in advance.

Normal, fuel pump cycle, your older bikes didn't have fuel pumps, the pump is in the gas tank.

Don't know about the Vulcans, but Victorys you have to replace the whole gas tank, not cheap.

I'm pretty sure the 98 800 does not have a fuel pump in the tank, or anywhere else, they're gravity fed to the carb. FI bikes all have them, but the 800 is carbed.
