2003 vulcan 1600 ?

Hello All. Though I ride a Honda Shadow I have been looking for something a little bigger and found a 2003 Vulcan 1600 classic. It only has 2k miles. The reviews online seem good. I thought it might be a good idea to ask current Kawasaki riders about their thoughts on this bike. Any pros and/or cons to ownership? I think heís asking too much for it at 5800.00 but I figure thatís just a starting point. Thanks for any input.

Rusty,

I have been on a 2008 1600 Classic for 2 1/2 years and love it. I moved up from a 650 Yamaha and have never looked back. It has very good torque, very good maintenance features (FI, shaft drive, hydraulic lifters, water cooled, cast wheels, etc.) and is very stable on the highway at 750 lbs.

I agree that 5800 sounds a little high for an 8 year old even with low mileage but you can always see if he is motivated and offer less. Go for it!

Thanks for the input. I'm going to take a closer look tonight and see how it rides out.

I agree. KBB and NADA both put that bike at $3500-$4500. At 8 years old, it ain't worth any more than that no matter how many miles are on it.

Thumbs up

I've owned one for just about 5 years. Nothing has ever gone wrong with it and it is a treat to ride. I would highly recommend it.

My 1500 just turned 49k miles. Never an issue. These are great bikes.

That's not many miles for an '03. I'd wonder how long it was left sitting... I'd definitely have it checked. And yes, $5,800 is too much.

IMHO, the 1600 is the nicest looking of the Vulcans. Wish Kawi had kept that long tank. Good luck.

I had the same thought on it sitting too long. I don't see any rust in the tank. Nice looking bike up close. He won't come down enough on the price so I told him if he doesn't sell it to give me a call. I'm not looking to steal the bike but no sense in overpaying either. I figure 4500 would be fair. I'm in no big hurry. Again thanks for all the input. I'll let you know if I end up with it. I'm definitely adding Kawasaki to my list for the new bike search. I like the look of the mean streak as well.
