Headlight Bulb Replacement
I have read that the stock 55/60 headlight bulb (01 Vulcan 800) can be replaced with other bulbs such as a 80/100. What does these two numbers mean (is it wattage at low/high beams)? Are the numbers interchangeable (ie. saw them online as 100/80 - are they the same bulb)? And, has anyone had problems from switching to a brighter bulb?
I'm also seeing a lot of 100/90 bulbs on Ebay. would these work as well?
I've done that on my car, result = had to change plugging and wiring because it was to big for it so it melt pluggin and wires...but maybe your bike will be good. Check witch someone who knows a little bit electricity and he will be able to tell you that,
Vulcan800, if you go to a higher watt bulb AND you have other additions on the circuit (for example a light bar) you might blow the fuse for that circuit. So its a matter of how much can that circuit hold. But worst case you burn up the fuse and then you know.
Actually, I just went to a Sylvana H4 bulb on my 1600. It is still 55/60 but supposed to be brighter. We will see. A bulb highly recommended is the Wagner Bp1210/H4 you can find it at NAPA. It is rated 80/100.
I went to the 80/100 have used it for about 6 months now without any problems. It is realy bright and puts out almost as much on low beam as other did on hight beam.
