1999 Vulcan 1500 Nomad Clutch

Hi Guys,

Bought a Nomad last fall, and learned that the clutch is slipping on the top end of the throttle. Am planning on installing a Mean Streak clutch, gasket kit, exhaust manifold gaskets, and S.O.Gear. The part that I'm unsure of is the Judge's washers. My first goal is to have a long term solution to these problems. I would like to keep the factory downshift clutch slip feature, but I don't know how much extra clutch life the washers will give me along with the clutch. If anyone has any thoughts, or experience on this, please let me know. Also, links to the best prices on these parts would be helpful.

I put in a MS spring in my '04 1500 classic along with both of Judge's washers. Rented an electric impact wrench to remove the Nut, came right off with 2 hits of the trigger, I put in the 2003 Mean Streak clutch spring, the one you want is for 2002 or 2003 MS, also you can install Judge's washers, I did not experience any difference in clutch lever pull and the downshift clutch slip is not an issue with Judge's washers, my bike had the stock indexing washer on-top of the clutch spring, I just re-installed it along with Judges washers, all is good. Also some are installing a Barnett clutch spring to a stronger spring than the 2003 MS spring. The Barnett spring is a bit thicker.

I thought I had a clutch slipping problem and it turned out to be the actuater. The hydralic actuater was not retracting in all the way when the lever was out. This made the clutch slip alittle. We fixed that and no problem. I put in a new clutch anyway why we were in there. Hope this helps.
