Fuel Tank Question

So I got in a little spill on my 1999 kawasaki vulcan 800 classic the other night. Only damage was some ripped jeans and a pretty good dent in my gas tank. I'm looking into replacing the tank with a smaller one to give the bike a slimmer look, I've changed up about everything on the bike besides the tank. Anyways, does anyone know if a 2001 OEM Kawasaki VN750 tank would be able to fit on my 1999 classic?

Doesn't look like it would without any mods to it. The dampers and mounts are different. Take a look for yourself but if you're good at doing mods you can fit just about anything to anything. You might have to also mod is the way the hoses and lines connect.
