best performance and horsepower

ok so since most of the threads on how to increase your performance and horsepower are FI specific i thought i would add one for us 800's. looked into russian wolf's grampsizing and scooterizing and not sure how i feel about doing those but i may give it a shot since my airbox broke the bolt that holds the dog bowl on. any of you veterns have any suggestions on airboxs, jets, or mod that worked the best. currently just have the factory airbox with a k&n filter and not sure of the brand but exhaust looks like vance and hines long shots and previous owner said it was jetted when he did the exhaust upgrade but wasnt specific and i havent tore it down to be sure yet but it does seem to run lean and backfires when i let off the gas in 5th gear if i dont rev right away

Grampsized mine last year, K&N filter and debaffeled stock pipes. I have a .138 main jet, just changed my pilot from stock 48 to a 50 a few days ago. Have a Dyno Jets needle with clip on 4th ring down from top. I know main jet is much smaller than reccommened, but works fine for me. Each bike is different, and enviroment, and elevation can all have an effect on how your carb is set. Reading the plugs will tell if your set good or not. I've put around 30,000 on this set up on my 05 800 classic.

Ok my new hypercharger finally arrived and installed it today, in love with the performance difference from stock air cleaner. I changed the main jet to 170 since i have muffled performance exhaust and fuel/air mixture at the recommended 3-1/2 turns out also used the supplied needle with clip on 3rd row with 3 shims on top. No more backfiring on decel(used to have to rev when letting off exhaust to downshift from 5th) and bike runs so much smoother at lower speeds didnt even warm up the bike just started up and took right off to test. Looking forward to a longer test drive tomorrow to see if i notice any issues or if mpg's have changed since i was averaging 48 mpgs on ethanol free 93 octane

Mine is Hypercharged as well and it's amazing how 'well mannered' it is compared to stock. When I rode stock on a cold day before, I had to leave choke on for a while. Now I only have to run choke for a minute or two on the colder days and almost nothing on the rest.

Combined with a V&H Cruzers exhaust, it really woke things up too. It definitely has more power. Not to mention, it doesn't sound like it's going to explode when you get into the higher RPMs... It sounds great!
