$130 a year $500/$1000 and I've already totaled one bike. I'm with all state an have my cars through them too. Allstate has a huge campaign about keeping MC riders safe which I admire and support. Also when I totaled my other bike they paid for all accessories, new tires, etc. I made out good.
Through the years I've had both Allstate and State Farm through personal friends who were agents through business or church. (With no claims.) However, when we moved here to the country across the county line, I found that Auto Owners Group saved me hundreds with my house and vehicles. Even took my AO policies into the other groups when they come up for renewal. I get my home covered for $10,000 more for $150 less per year. Trouble is that they don't cover bikes. I carry full replacement value on the bike, personal medical, uninsured, under insured, $250 deductable with double the state minimum.
As a follow up, I got a note about a year later telling me that the case was closed and the government had finally paid.
Yeah the government ain't too quick are they? lol. Last February I was side swiped by an uninsured/unlicensed driver who fled the scene. When the highway patrol found him he offered to pay cash for damages and I accepted (figured that's all I'd ever see out of it anyway). He gave me almost enough to cover for the damage and it WAS cheaper than filing a claim (deductible). Still irks me that it cost me even a penny for something that wasn't my fault but... not worth the trouble of suing him.
Anyway, I get a letter in the mail from the prosecuting attorney not 3 days ago (remember, this happened last February) wanting me to detail what expenses I had incurred because they were 'beginning to build their case to go to trial' for the hit and run, and were going to try and get me damages. Wow, I had all but forgotten about all that and they are just starting! LOL. I sent the letter back saying it was settled out of court. If It took them this long to start getting the paperwork together, I can't IMAGINE how long and drug out and involved it would be for me to actually try and claim what he hadn't paid for. I don't need the money THAT bad LOL.
Granted a non-injury hit and run isn't the case of the century... but it still seems a wee slow hehe.

No kidding...it's just nutty. Kudos to you for being honest and telling them it had been settled...
I'm the same way...I can't imagine pursuing a lawsuit. I'm just not built like that.

I'm not a fan of lawsuits either, or anything like that where you'd have to get up in front of everyone and drag someone through the mud. But sometimes you have to protect what's yours, so I do understand SOME of it, but this definitely wasn't that case.
Besides, no WAY it would be worth it. Aside from the legal costs, my time is more valuable than the few bucks he 'technically' owes me, compared to the tremendous amount of time it would take to go through this in court! I told the trooper I wasn't interested in testifying in court or anything, whatever case they felt they needed to make they could do it without me (plus, I don't wanna see this guy go to jail. He made a stupid decision but this guy, mid 20's, was scared to tears when he talked to me. He won't do it again. Just write him a ticket and move on). And I'm not interested still, who wants to go through all of that junk, take time out of their day, all for some 'damages' and to see some guy you met once go to jail? Forget it.
We've all seen it happen though. Someone spending an entire day in small claims court over a $10 hamburger that was undercooked or something like that LOL.

I just wish judges had greater discretion over frivolous lawsuits.... Wasting the court's time should = paying legal costs for both parties....

Got you all beat. Being that I am from Kalifornia, Progressive full coverage on my '11 900 Custom runs me right around $400/yr. I'm 40, have a multi policy with a travel trailer and have been riding most of my life.
Progressive has my business not just because of low premiums, because they have impressive service. I work for an insurance company. They are big with having agent contact which is great, but I like being able to do all my business online until I need a person. Progressive delivers in both ways.
My independent agent signed me up with Victoria Ins. Co. $329 per year. Full replacement value on 2012 900 SE. Uninsured, underinsured, personal medical and $3000 on assesories.
Have been riding for 40 years with no tickets in 35 years.
