cooling issues 203 vn1600
right at 30000 miles no issues ever
but i started noticing the the fan was coming on more than usual especially when i was stopped
so i checked the coolant overflow tank was empty but when the bike cooled off it filled back up to the full line
water pump is working i have bled it no air in system
do you think the thermostat is bad?

If the fluid has been in there long enough to evaporate, change it out.

That is exactly the opposite of what it should be doing!

that is what i though this weekend i will pull thermostat and flush system

well i am officially confused
flush the system it was real clean
pulled thermostat it opened up at about 150- 170 degrees
filled her up
as she gets hotter it fills the over flow tank with hot coolant but when engine cools it sucks it back in
im at a loss

This is how it should be...the opposite of what you stated above.

Now I am confused. In your first post you said that when the bike cooled off, the overflow tank filled up. In your second post, you said when it gets hotter, the tank fills....this is how it should be. Which one are you experiencing?

I am sorry you are right
my first post was wrong
as the motor heats up it fills the over flow tank
when it cools it sucks in back in
I was told by a fella on another site it may be the radiator cap

The other fella is wrong.
Your cooling system is opertating as it should.
