Really it is the biggest debate ever. Google it and you will see.
Most physicists say that black is the absence of light hence the absence of color. If you can't see the colors then all you see is black. Hence black is the absence of color.
Chemists will say black is the combination of all colors. Mix and bunch of colors and you can get close to "black"
