Default 800 valve adjustment

Hi everyone. I've read all there is to read on this forum pertaining to valve adjustment but every bike seems to have this removable plate to get to the crankshaft marks. I have one stand alone large phillips screw with no plate. I guess my whole cover has to come off but does the screw come out first? What surprises await me? Thanks guys.

Remove the screw and cover and you'll see the markings.

Everything to know is in "Kawasaki Vulcan VN800 Valve Adjustment Maintenance Procedures Instructions". Just do a search and it will be there. Here is a photo from the article with inspection cover removed (and the screw replaced) showing a timing marks in the rear hole. Access to the crank is in the forward hole. Kevin
