Hello, I'm Troy. Just got a 2012 Voyager a week ago. Coming over from a Venture (not entirely by choice). So far everyone seems very helpful. Nice to meet you

Yes Scott. A story of stupidity and arrogance ending in embarrassment. Bad road conditions and too much speed. Laid it down and it slid into a sign post. Luckily I did not. Totaled bike but I was playing golf the next day so very lucky and relatively cheap lesson learned. Thanks for the compliments on new ride. I think I will like it better when I get it outfitted. Seem to get more noise and wind around hands and head. Searching forums for ideas.

Glad you made it through it with little more than a bruised ego.
I have heard of a few people using the Bakers air wings to redirect some of the heat; but I don't know if will help with wind around the hands and head.
I came from the VN900 so the wind and noise on the Voyager is a step up.
One of the mods for the 1700 that everyone on the forum seems to enjoy (including myself) is Rays throttle mod. It smoothes out some of the low end throttle lag.
Ride safe!
Scott

sweet looking bike. sorry to hear about what happened with your old bike.
Did you take a safety course? I took one through a Harley Davidson dealership in Janesville, WI. It reduced my insurance on my bike to next to nothing. the course cost $300, but more than made up for it in a short amount of time. Plus, it broke some poor habits I had, like covering the clutch and front brake while riding.
