Just joined from Va.!

Greetings y'all,
big fan of the forums, figured I'd join up in hopes that it'll inspire me to keep ridin', maintainin', and enjoyin' my '97 Vulcan 500 LTD.; 1st bike, bought after a tour in Iraq. It's given me hundreds of miles of scenic and enjoyable riding but lately it's been giving me some serious headaches. In the interest of time and space I'll save the specifics for a future thread, but any readers out there who could shed a little wisdom on an aspiring DIY'er would be a great help to say the least; heck I might be able to share some of what I've encountered on her so far that might help someone else out there. Much obliged to all, looking forward to more smooth riding in the future!

Welcome and thanks. Since you would like to do some of your own maintenace, I suggest getting a manual, Clymer or maybe a Haynes.

Welcome From VA also. Like it was already said a manual is nice to have and just the pure simple fact of learning about your machine lets you find problems sooner and if you have to take to a shop they won't try to pull the wool over ya eyes.

Didn't know Haynes made manuals for motorcycles (I've just seen them in the auto parts stores for cars) I'll definitely be pickin' up one of them. I'll be sure to look into Clymer too, between them I'm sure it'll make maintenance a great deal easier and more clear...

I have a clymer manual for my bike and I love it. It's so much easier to work on the bike with it.
