Good on you, Famliman! My first bike ('76 Honda CB550) ended up in the garage 10 days after I brought it home- two months later it was back on the road with a rebuilt top end, rebuilt oil pump, replaced brake light switch, new paint on the tank... all stuff I learned to do over the course of repairing it. Then I sold it for 4 times what I paid for it, and bought a 2005 Vulcan 500. There is nothing you can't learn with a little bit of patience.
Remember to go easy, read the manual, read the manual again, if you don't understand something look it up, read the manual again, respect torque values, read the manual, walk away when you're hungry, tired, pissed or drunk, do the easy things first, and don't forget to read the manual.
