Looking at an 05 Nomad

I have the chance to pick up an 05 Nomad with 39,000 miles, the asking price is $3500. Yes the mileage is high at 5500 a year but is a bike that's been riden
better than one that has sat around over the years? What should I look for are there any common problems with this bike? I'd appreciate your thoughts thanks.

The main question is how do you plan to use it.

I bought an 06 in May with 3,800 on it. Has over 8,000 now, and I didn't take a couple of planned long trips due to rain.

As the previous owner only went 500 a year, if you fall in that catagory, you are real good.

If you plan to do 10,000 a year, maybe not so much.....

The problem to look for/anticipate is the cam tensioner. Job is described on a few of the Kawi sites. If you are a moderate wrencher, it's a home job. This is also a job that needs to be done on other brands of MC as well.

We have a family lake house 2 hours away. I have to trailer the MC, as bride will not ride on it. I would certainly consider selling the trailer, and buying the MC you ask about.

If I am not mistaken don't some of those bikes have clutch springs that wear out quickly. Someone correct me if I am wrong (lord knows it is not the first time) but don't you have to wait until the cam tensioners get to full extension before you add the extensions?

The clutch springs are a 1500 item. As is the POG on the earliest model 1500's

Thanks for the correction. I knew it was for the 1500's just did not know about the 1600's
