Howdy and welcome Dave. You can use adapters on a lift so you avoid those issues. My shop fabs them for various vehicles and bikes. Ride safe friend.

Yes, lift tables are nice but what about engine removal? You need to get low enough to do that safely. Like you said adapters fix the problem of lifts hitting areas of the engine you do not want it to and just raise from the frame on the bottom.

While I don't own one, it claims a rating for 500 pounds. Neither of your wheels should weigh that much. Even a full dresser comes in under 900 pounds, and that is of course for both axle weights combined.

I used it on my 1500 Nomad and although it worked, it took effort to advance the wheel. Another annoying thing was the tendency for the wheel to "walk". What I mean is that the bike is on the side stand and as you advance the wheel on the cleaning dolly, the tire/wheel with each movement would slip/move to the edge of the cleaner.
