I think we all have the stories about our local dealers that have ripped us off or refused to listen or deal with a warranty issue. Went to the dealer in Littleton, NH and complained about stalling, a very bad rattle, rough running at slow speeds. They kept the bike two weeks and made me pay 60.00 to get it back and nothing was fixed. I was informed that if I wanted to fix it I would have to buy aftermarket pipes, air kit and a fuel processor.
I've been around the automotive world for over 35 years and I know a thing or two about how things work in the warranty world so I called KAW and they gave me a set of bag liners to help ease the sting a little, but I still had the problems.
I found a dealer that just opened a new shop in South Paris Maine and stopped to inquire about the issues. WOW what a difference. He fought with KAW to get a new ECU even though they said it wasn't one of the bad ones, he got to the bottom of the rattle and installed new parts to fix it. He even cleaned the bike and fixed the cruise so it won't cancel when you use the turn signal. All at no cost and with a big smile that says come see me again. If anyone needs work and can get to MY new dealer, it will be worth the trip

And when you leave there you always wave and say, "Thanks, Dad"!
(I always used to do that at my Pontiac dealer!)

My Dealer is like that. That's why I bought two bikes from them and will likely buy anything in the future from them. When you get service like that, it's worth supporting them as a business. Reward them for their hard work, shop there!

I really believe in developing a good relationship with your dealer, providing they are a good dealer and honest. I've also found that the treatment received by a dealer, especially in the service department is directly related to one's attitude. I enjoyed a great relationship with my dealer in Boise, Idaho. He didn't give me 25% off parts, though! That would have been great. But I got along with the service folks well, and everyone there knew me by my first name. I was never scammed or been given the same runaround that the OP here got. Find a good dealer? It's worth it to hold onto that one, even if it means riding or driving a ways to get there.

My dealer here in Abilene, TX is awesome. The best dealer I've ever bought from. Been buying from them, and only them, since 2001.
