Winterizing

I am getting ready to put her away for the Winter. This is my first bike and have an idea of what I need to do but I want to make sure I do not overlook something.
--- 2008 Vulcan Nomad 1600

She will be in an out building no electricity or heat.
I was going to change the oil and filter (1000 miles since last change) - remove the battery - cover the exhaust outlets (critters and condensation) - fill the gas tank and put fuel conditioner in it....

Am I missing anything??

Fill the tank and put conditioner in it first. Add the conditioner at the fuel station then ride it home. That will get the conditioned fuel circulated through the system. Then change the oil, clean and store.

I store mine on a jack to keep it vertical, tires off the ground and covered.

Definitely remove the battery and place on a tender since you don't have electricity near the bike.

Sounds good! Like the above said, get that battery on a tender inside. I'm in the same boat so my battery goes on a tender in my laundry room (though I don't really store my bike, but if I know it's going to be a few weeks of cold and snow..)

Also, a good wash and wax can help prevent rust, pay special attention to all the nooks and crannies. It's not essential, but it can be helpful if you want to spend the time doing it.

I addition to all the above - you may want to consider shooting some Fogging Oil thru the air intake after you have parked it in your out building, before you pull the battery. Some say it's not necessary, but it puts a final coat of oil on all the internals - can't hurt.

awesome - thank you all very much. Up here in NH it is a crap shoot on when. I was planning on putting her away this weekend. Then I saw the temps for Monday and Tuesday (57 and 60) ...... maybe next weekend!

Looks like a "large dust pan"! Was in low 60's here today...........we're living on borrowed time.
