buying my first voyager this weekend

Found a used 2011 voyager for a good price this weekend, has 16000 miles on it already, anything i need to be concerned with?

appceiate the respnse, have looked at these for awhile and decided to jump on this one, my other bike is a 09 suzuki m109r but wanted something the wife will ride too lol

I hear ya. Ever try to get your wife (well GF at the time) to ride on the back of a factory Mean Streak Seat. Needless to say I ended up buying a new seat and sissy bar. But she is happy now on the back of a V2K

Indeed there is. I found trying to balance my riding time with priorities in my life to be an issue. Mrs. Yahooligan stays busy partaking in interests of her own but I found I was riding to the point where I left little time for other things. It's addicting.

Welcome to the forum!

2011 and prior Voyagers do not have the KAMS kit stock; if you live in a warm climate, you may want to install it before next summer.
The KAMS corrects rider discomfort; but some owners seem to have bikes that run unusually hot.

The air box is a pretty dumb design. It sucks the (hot) air from between the jugs and Kaw didn't finish the air fins so the few aftermarket options we have don't look very good.

The throttle by wire system has a bit of lag; but RacNRay has a mod that will correct that.

There have been a small number of people on this forum who have had transmission issues with the 1700 engine. I will repeat; "a small number".
I think all issues were on 09/10 bikes. But, I haven't heard any complaints in a while.

I only have 3.5k on my VV; and I don't have any serious complaints.
I would make the purchase again without hesitation.

16k isn't a lot of miles; but I would still try to learn what I could about its maintenance record; and look for any signs of damage.

And just keep in mind if you are searching this forum (and others) about info on the bike, do not be surprised if you see more negative things than positive. Most people don't sign in to forums and say "I woke up this morning and my bike ran as expected".
