Question Help, need tips on cleaning up front forks.

Since I've had my bike, the front forks have got what looks to be some gravel damage from rocks possibly flicked up and striking the lower section of the forks.
Can anyone give me some ideas as how to remove these and to make them look nice again?

Sand them.

I kid you not when I say that. Do a forum search (and/or google).

My fork lowers in this picture are NOT chromed. They are stock lowers that I (by hand) sanded/polished.

it takes some sweat and some time, but is well worth it. The picture also shows the fact I polished the rotors.

Wow, I need to try this both for the forks and the rotor. Did you remove and/or disassemble the forks for this?

No, but a lift helps. It will "drop" the forks so that you can polish them 'above" normal line of sight, if that make sense.

it's really not hard to do, and when you first start, your going to think your ruining stuff, since it looks really bad when you begin..

here is shot where you can see the fork lowers and 2 of the rotors (the bike has 2 front rotors)
