tried the oven cleaner, didnt touch it. I'll get some magic eraser next.

Wow. First negative I've heard on that. Pipes warm? Did you let is sit and work per the instructions? Good Luck with that and let us know what finally works for you.

Default Sos not brillo
SOS pads (NOT BRILLO) for cleaning pots and pans have a very fine metal polish in them but no abrasive media that would scratch your chrome. Get them wet and use them just like 0000 steel wool. When your done just wash off the pasty mess with water and your chrome will shine like
new!

That is what I use all the time. Works wonders just be careful around anything that is not chrome like your switch covers or triple tree, or it will scratch it up.
