Default Blinker relay-

Turn signal were not flashing on my old 90 vulcan so after some reading on the net I shorted the connector after removing the relay and the lights came on indicating a bad relay. I popped off the rubber cover and found the capacitor shorted, unable to find the value of the cap., number is 5480, code 9yb.
Anybody know this value?
Thanks, old sinner

Just so you know. You can use a automotive flasher. When people switch to led's they have to use a electronic flasher so that the signals will flash properly.

If it is the signal flasher that you are reading, it should be shorted.

when you put LED's on both front and back then you need DIODES on the inputs to the indicator light ... one diode on each input and those spliced together into one post on the indicator light with the other post going to ground.

Kuryakyn makes a kit with the diodes already connected to wires for you.

It's their item # 4709.

This is a stock bike, I removed the flasher from the rubber case and the relay has a capacitor and a 150 ohm resistor, I think is is the timing circuit. The cap tested shorted (removed from circuit). I have put a 1000 mfd., 20 volt cap in but the lights flash too fast. Would like to know value of the cap, 5840, 9yb to get the right flasher speed.
Thanks for your input , os

Ooops, looks like you have a non-oem flasher there.
Doubling the capacitor value should "about" halve the flash speed.
Or see post #2.
