+1 on the Metzler 880's. I get about 12K on the rear, about double that on the front. I don't mind re-using a tube once as long as the age isn't a factor (like if it is only a year old and hasn't had any flats during that time).
For what it's worth, for the last two tire purchases, motorcyclesuperstore.com has been the best price I could find, free shipping and have always had excellent service.

At my last tire change (new rear tire & tube), I put dyna-beads in both front & rear for balancing. I don't have a lot of miles on the rear yet (maybe 4,000), but I don't see any scalloping yet on either front or rear (front has around 16,000). I did have some scalloping on my old rear tire with conventional balancing weights - although I still got over 12,000 miles out of it.
The Dyna-beads claim to help the scalloping because of better balancing. I don't know if that is going to prove to be true, but they do seem to make the tires run very smooth.
Hey Winstoncup, Unless you have another bike to ride, you are not getting near enough miles on that machine !!!! Take some time off and RIDE that thing !!!!

Just FYI/FWIW, take the best price then contact Dennis Kirk. They have always met or beat the best price as long as they carry that tire and can verify the authenticity of the other price you're bringing to the table.

+1. Just check their list of brand exceptions. I have not done this with tires because they usually have the best price I have found on tires for the V2K. But we are rather limited on rear tire selection unless we go dark side.
