saddleman moves you up an inch and drops you down an inch. it took me 500 miles to break it in and the seat did become more comfortable after that but overall its just ok in my opinion. but it does make the bike look better than stock

+111 Exactly my thoughts about Saddleman seats. I have more than 500 miles on mine now and I feel it is only just slightly better than the stock.
In retrospect, I should have waited to save a bit more and get a known higher
quality seat. At the moment, another replacement is out of the question (wife would not be happy at all )

I find mine way - WAY - more comfortable than the the stock seat. With time, it has broken in nicely, and I find myself going longer in the seat before the butt starts complaining. I like the look, I like the feel, and I like the price. Can't get much better than that.

I too find mine WAY more comfortable than stock. It is not the greatest, but definitely better than stock. I easily ride 3 times longer or more as compared to stock. I will still probably spring for a better seat one day. Maybe a Mustang or an Ultimate seat.
But for now, the saddlemen lets me do a lot more distance before I get sore.
I don't get it, I can go all day on the Custom seat without too much discomfort, although I have known comfier bike seats (ZZ-R600 ... mmm). Am I the only person around here with an iron butt??
Congratulations on your seat, anything that lets you ride longer is good news.
You are not alone.
I like the stock seat on my Classic just fine, including some 600 mile days. There is no reason at all for me to want to change.

You guys are very lucky. I would much rather have spent the several hundred dollars I did on my mustang seat elsewhere. But the stock seat left me in pain and really, really wanting to get off after 20~30 minutes. It wasn't just uncomfortable, uncomfortable I can deal with. It was PAINFUL.
My wife, on the other hand, can ride all day long on the stock seat. She had no problems on the stock pillion of my 900, and she can ride all day long on her stock Honda seat. She claims the mustang seat is less comfortable than the stock seat on my 900, but I think it's just the fact that we used to stop every 30 minutes on the stock seat, wheras we ride for hours non-stop on the Mustang seat. On long trips I go tank-to-tank.

I am in the same boat. Uncomfortable was not the word. In severe pain is a much more accurate way to describe it.
As a side note, Romans, what Mustang seat do you have?

Wide Touring with Backrest. The backrest is a big plus as well. If I do start to get a little uncomfortable on the seat on a long ride I can push up on the backrest and lift up for a second. Plus, the backrest totally and completely eliminated lower back fatigue for me. Regardless of seat, I don't think I could go back to not having a backrest again!
