I just bought my first Vulcan 500 and I love it! Only problem is the clutch is stiff and engages almost to the end. I didn't get the owners manual (bought private) as she couldn't find it. Is there any way to adjust this? I have smaller hands and find this a bit difficult at times.
Also, where can I get a 2005 Vulcan 500 LTD manual?
This is what the manual for a 09 500 says. Check that the lever has 2-3 mm 0.08-0.12 inches of play. if not loose the locknut and turn the adjuster until you have 2-3 mm of play. then tighten locknut. If you can't do it that way use the mounting nuts at the bottom of the cable. Hope that helps. And welcome to the forum. Don't forget to post some pics.
You should also look at lubricating the cable. If the former owner couldn't find the manual it is possible forgot to lube the cable. If the clutch is really stiff compared to another 500 then it probably would be worth replacing the cable. I got an OEM manual for my Vulcan 2000 from this guy (manualwizard1970@yahoo.com) for $35.00 shipped to my door. He doesn't list your manual but I would send him an e-mail to see if he can get it.
Good luck and enjoy the ride -- Dave

I bought a manual from my local dealer for $14. If you don't have a local dealer I can give you the part number and the web page of the dealer I ordered it from.
Are you talking about an owners manual or service manual? Usually the service manuals that the mechanic/shop uses are a lot more expensive. I think mine directly from Kawasaki was supposed to be $75.00 plus shipping so I thought $35.00 was pretty reasonable. $14.00 would be even better...
I was talking about the owners manual being $14. The service manual is 60-65 dollars I think. Personally I bought the Haynes for 25ish and it is sufficient.
Kawasaki.com sells the repair manual for $65. The owners manual is $15. A Repair manual from Clymer usually runs about $20.
