I'll stand by what I said if your winter involves snow / no riding. Plus, this time of year you're dealing with dealers wanting to clear their inventory - this has an impact on the used market.
I bought an '07 900 brand new off the floor in summer of '09. Acessorized and out the door it was 10K. In '10 at the tail end of the season, the local Kawi dealer had brand new '10 Nomads for $13400, reduced from $18000. Made my '09 worth much less on trade or sale on the open market.
At the end of the day, the market dictates what the bike will sell for, not what you want for it. Check out dealer inventory in your area of used machines and classified ads. Use this to get an idea of what you want for your machine.
Still, be prepared for it to sit until spring, if you have no winter riding season and want top dollar.
