Yep, I hear ya. I have been building on mine in stages (as funds permit). But, the 9 is a great platform to build off. The 9 is not going to win a lot of races, but agree snappier is possible.

That's a tough one. You may want to post a thread on that question, or search the forum (I think there is a topic on it). An air kit is going to add a lot of air (as it should) and even with your phase 2 debaffle you may run lean. I have full debaffled pipes and went with a fuel processor when I added my air kit. I was to concerned about running lean.

Wow, sorry to hear they were so tight. The screw is completely stripped? If not you might be able to place your philips driver in as tight as you can, then tap the top with a small hammer to help loosen the threads. Mine weren't that tight, but I did tap the top of the philips driver. Another avenue is to grab the top with some pliers and turn the screw. If you do get them out and want to put them back in, just send me your address and I'll send you my screws. Not sure what size the are, but definitly metric, probably 2mm.

So, the secondary plates are electronic controlled, not by throttle (you). They control air flow, this is why you may feel hesitation. Removing the plates will not hurt the bike, and will allow improved air flow (no matter your configuration). You should feel a smoother, snappier response. Performance will only improve if you decide to add a fuel mgmt processor and air intake system. Its also easy to put them back in if you choose, but I think you'll like it. Just take it easy removing the screws as they are small. I used a magnetic philips driver, but its not necessary. The plates are aluminum, screws are steel. Its easy, believe me. Its one of the quickest mods (besides the marble mod). Have fun.

Since I'm in Woodland Hills I used someone out this way. The closest was Kawasaki of Simi Valley, but that might be too far from you. The mechanic did a good job on my 600 mi. I checked them out on Yelp and they had a pretty good review.
I've heard bad things about Burbank and Hollywood, so I'd say check Yelp and see if there's a dealer you feel good about. Of course, they all have horror stories http://www.yelp.com/la. Good luck and enjoy your new ride!
