Hello, I also have a Kawi Gel seat for my classic and I would love a backrest. I see in your below message that it was already attached to yours when you got the seat. Can you possibly tell how it's attached to the seat or maybe send me a close up pic. I'm really gonna do some headscratching over this one --- I will have my backrest!!!

hyperion, my seat is a Kawasaki OEM Gel seat, that I bought used from a former 900 owner. He already had the Utopia backrest installed on it, so I can't tell you where he got it or how much it cost.

What I can say is that I will never have another bike that doesn't have a driver's backrest on it. Makes all the difference when you can actually lean back into something. There is a thumbscrew adjustment which controls how far forward it leans. And there is one nut/bolt through the hinge that you can remove to remove the backrest, when you have something softer to lean against. It seems very sturdy to me, and I highly recommend it, especially in conjunction with an upgrade to the seat.

Greetings! Saw your post/reply about handlebar risers and then saw something MUCH more interesting: Utopia backrest. Dug around a bit. Saw a couple of videos and reviews. Looks pretty simple to install. How is it riding? Is it durable?

Reason for asking... took bike (2009 Vulcan classic) to Key West and back and man, my back complained a lot. Thought about Mustang seats but they're mucho $$$s. If Utopia seat is as good as it appears to be then it offers a great alternative.

    Thanks for your time.
