Bob, I bought a 2002 800 classic with 29K miles. On my way home from the purchase it overheated. This was after about 35 miles at 75 MPH in 90 degree heat. I stopped at a cycle dealer and we checked coolant. It was full. I made it home after another stop for it to cool (another 25 miles) and then made it home. I tested the thermostat and it opens at 140 ish. I found the radiator was a bit plugged when I ran water from the top house down. I removed it and ran the hose through the bottom and some crud came out. Now water flows through from the top fine. What is the best way to test to see if I have fixed the problem? Long ride?
I also found a strange looking connector not attached to anything down by my oil filter. The wire from it runs up to under the gas tank where it plugs into the harness. Any idea what this is? Oil pressure?
