Ditched work and school one afternoon a while back to go riding.

Got out for some trail riding in Mississippi this weekend.

Look, ma. No kickstand!

It took a few minutes but I got it out. Getting it cleaned up the next day took a while, though. Totally worth it.

Always loved riding in the dirt, until a month ago. Still will, but gotta get better first.

2005 Honda CRF230, I restored it with some black panels and a bunch of other work after sitting under a canvas tarp for 7 years. Ridden this bike a bunch in a lot of challenging terrain, loads of fun.

October 10th this year, don't remember the accident happening but remember walking home when my wife didn't answer her cell phone. Out riding on a dirt track near my house, when I guess I lost control some how. 13 cracked ribs, two fractured vertebrae, broken collarbone, collapsed left lung and 2nd degree burns (from the exhaust?) on my right hand. Spent a week in the hospital, rib plating surgery, and a skin graft taken from the groin for the right hand. Loads of meds, a few weeks of lost work. And... more importantly I haven't been able to get on the 900 Custom for over a month.

Damage after about three weeks of healing: (No pics of the burn as it looks like cooked bacon right now)

Everyone keeps telling me to sell my bikes... meh. I'll just be more careful next time.

Don't try to argue with idiots. You aren't the dumbass whisperer.

WOW! Glad you are able to write about it. You have to get back on that horse and ride, but just a bit easier next time.

Wasatch, that sucks but glad you are healing. I love riding out west so at least you're in the middle of some great country once you can ride again.

My neighbor is in month 4 of his recovery after wadding up his CRF450, and himself, at a motocross track over the summer. My trip to the Smoky Mountains a couple of months ago was drama free, but it did prompt me to stop wearing plain work boots and get some real protective boots. I'm just old enough that healing takes longer than it used to. Get well soon!
