I considered not using the enclosures but wonder what if any air pressure there is on the back side of the speaker at high speed? You could give it a try and keep the enclosures if you decide to put them back.

Yeah, good point. I have the auxiliary lights that fill the vent holes, so I'm guessing not a lot of pressure. But without the lights, I suspect it would be a good bit.

Brucer, I just received the RF and am getting ready to install. To clarify- are you saying that you connected no wire at all to the "remote" terminal on the RF amp?

That's correct. The amp senses the speaker level input and turns the amp on.

Just got it installed, think it's gonna sound good, need to turn down the gain a little; some songs are a little bit distorted.

Brucer do you remember what settings you ended up with? Also, the frequency adjustment doesn't seem to do anything!

No. Can't remember. Would depend on which speakers you run. All you can to is tweak it until you're happy with the sound.

Adjusted the gain down. Took a test ride and it sounds awesome! Thanks to all who recommended RF amps and Polk DB521 speakers!

SoCal, I'll ask you then, what gain settings did you end up with? I'm struggling to find a setting that doesn't sound muddy in the bass. I have the exact amp and speakers you do. Thanks for the input.
