Removing tank bib?

Does anyone know how to remove that black piece from the top of the tank? More specifically, the chrome ring surrounding the ignition. Does it twist off, pry off, or ?? I didn't want to break it by trying to pry it off too hard, so I figured I better ask. Thanks, Tim

Tim, the part is held on with small nibs, you do need to pry it up and off. I took mine off when I lifted the tank to run the new horn wires. I used a flat putty knife inserted about 10 o'clock and twisted it a little and it popped up. Work your way around it and you can do it. A trick I learned on the 1700 classic which had the same type ingition ring, look at this parts diagram and find 14092, that the part coming off, the rest is easy, just 3 screws

Thanks, I appreciate the info. I thought it probably would pry off, but I didn't want to risk it and then hear a "snap".....followed by me reciting every cuss word in my vocabulary about three times, loud enough for my neighbors to hear!

Yes it does...and it is taking some getting used to...

I guess they are in the process of updating all the links on their site.

I think you will really like the Ultimate seat. I came from mustang, corbin, stock, and found ultimate to be, well, Ultimate!

Im still waiting on the gel touring seat from Kawi. The stock seat is surprisingly comfortable for me.
Im hoping that new seat will be just as comfortable.
The link is broken, you have to go to ultimateseats.ca and click kawasaki and it is listed right under the voyager/nomad..but if you look at other kawasaki seats, the link goes away

those with the ultimate seat, can you buy / install only the drivers seat?
Negative, That is what I initially wanted to do. Ultimate midrider is a 2 piece, mustang is a 1 piece
