The Kawasaki fire sure looks way to small to protect anything once the bike tips off. I'm not sure about it protection wise but it looks pretty cool
I have done a lot of research about the options for the crash bars some time back. About 3 years ago I finally decided to with the Kawasaki OEM bars. IMO they look cleanest, they have a nice forward curvature (something I really missed on the Cobra and other "flat" bars, they just look cheap to me - your taste may vary).
The Kawasaki bars are a nice sturdy one piece. I do not think they could have been designed better - in terms of mounting (sturdiness, no need to move the horn, or adjust anything...)
I indeed "tested" them the same season I installed them.
I stupidly parked in a downward-sloped driveway at a friend's house. And I grossly underestimated the weight of the bike and the pressure that is needed to fold the kickstand back.
The bike crashed on its side and the bars probably paid for themselves at that moment already: the only damage was a slightly scratched chrome on the bar.
Had I not had the bars, I would have most likely ended up replacing the tank.
