Who makes the most comfortable aftermarket seat for a 900 Classic LT? I've seen the Saddlemen, Mustang, Corbin and Kawasaki gel seat, but don't have a clue which one is best for touring comfort. The stock seat isn't bad for short trips, but bothers me a little after 30 or 40 minutes of riding. Any input would be appreciated!
Hate to say this, but asking which seat is the most comfortable is like asking which underwear is the best. Everybody has an opinion. Mustang seems to be the most popular. I have one on my LT and I can't comment how it is for long rides. My bike is mainly a fair weather commuter. Anyways, you'll want to crawl through the endless threads like yours asking the same thing and derive your solution from that. I can tell you that the gel seat will cook your butt in the summer. Gel holds heat really well.
Another complaint I have about the stock seat is I try to sit further back and the seat causes me to slide forward. This is probably good for short riders but sucks if your tall. I just added a crash bar, so I think adding some highway pegs will help with changing my seating position when my butt gets sore.
Any tall riders have an opinion about the Saddlemen, Mustang, Corbin or Kawasaki gel seat? I read on this forum that the gel seat adds about 1 inch to the seat height and pushes you further forward than the stock seat. Anyone else experience this? Also read that you can custom order a Corbin seat. Any tall riders do this?
This is considered by many as being the best seat you can possibly get for your scoot. They custom make them using your own seat pan. Check them out. They are always available to answer any questions you may have. Their customer service is very highly rated. Russell Day Long is what they are known by.
Thanks for all the info. Because the price for a top of the line seat is so high, I might try removing some of the foam from the stock seat and replacing it with either gel or a softer foam. I should be able to use the stock cover, but if I screw it up I can always buy another seat. I bet the gel found in the Kawasaki seat is a common item at auto upholstery supply stores, but i don't know.
Never sat on one for a 900, but sat on several Mustang seats that felt nice. I had a Corbin Dual Tour on my 900 for a couple of years until I sold the bike. The Corbin moved me down and back slightly from the stock seat, but my bike was a 2009 and I understand the stock seats on the newer models have changed some.
If you go with Corbin, see if you can try one out before you buy. Their return policy is pretty much, "We don't have a return policy" in so many words. They will work with you to get the seat reshaped to fit you, but won't take it back for good. Folks seem to either love Corbin seats or hate them, and I was in the first group.

I went with the Saddleman Solo Renegade to get a bit more room. Not cushy by any means but better than stock. I am 6' and 285 lbs so I like a roomy ride. I don't do real long distance on my 900, mostly bar to bar, but I have ridden it for 4 or 5 hrs at a time with no permanent side effects.. lol. There are those in the forum that say the aftermarket seats push you forward a bit but the general feeling that I have with the Saddleman is one of more room. I have a Mustang "road sofa" on my V2K and would not have anything else.

My mustang seat does this. I'll try to push myself deep in the seat only to find crotch sniffing the gas tank later. I think footpegs would help that some, though. Better leverage for pushing than floorboards. Oh and I'm 6 foot 2 and 265 pounds.
I keep trying to push my butt back in the stock seat, thinking, if I do that long enough while telling the foam back there to come on, get with the program, eventually it will be just fine. It's already better than it was when I got the bike.
The great virtue of going this route is, it is so affordable.
Financially, that is. I don't know about orthopedically. :serious:
I put the Kawasaki Gel seat on my 900C and it is 10x better than the stock seat. Did a 350 mile trip last year and rode another 150 when I got there, no problem.
Is the Kawasaki Gel seat still sold as an option? I have a 07 900.
