It's hard to talk about this stuff. I'm not a timid rider, which brings its own kind of risk, and I'm not a coward. But I looked sudden death right in the eye and it was ugly, and it wasn't messing around.

I'm 65 now, and the dirt will have me soon enough. I ain't giving myself up for nothing. Plus, there's great satisfaction in just being the best you can be at riding and not being a dumbass. It's a better payoff than the pursuit of danger and getting away with it imho.

Well-written posts, and Amen! I have a bunch of years on even you and after seeing some terrible motorcycle crashes and having worked in a hospital ER and seen crash victims brought in, I've subscribed to that philosophy. Every time I get onto my bike I ask the Lord to help me to ride safely!
