I have had oil on my rectifier plug once and just cleaned it off the plug and the inside of the plug using brake clean. Then put it all back together without any issues.
I can only guess it slowly siphons up the wires from the stator.
I had same situation on 2011 900lt. the mechanic at dealer explained that oil migrated from gear case. He cleaned it up with brake cleaner and said normal for vulcan. I check and clean up plug every 6mth or so.

you may see it just now because it takes the oil a while to travel all the way to the front. the wires are protected w/ that plastic tubing all the way to the rectifier, oil accumulates in the tube and because of heat, wind, time, some oil reaches the rectifier connector...
I guess one could puncture the tubing someplace under the frame and have the few drops of oil use that small hole... or plug some material in the tubing just by the rectifier such as sponge or shop paper towel.
I believe that it's simply residue from oil filter removals at oil changes. There always is some oil which drips from the oil filter and from the region of the filter mounting flange and its plumbing after a filter change, and even after cleaning it up there is a minute amount remaining which eventually coalesces and flows down by gravity and accumulates in a drop or two. Unless there is ongoing dripping from the bike there isn't anything to worry about.

I believe now that the rectifier connector gets oily in some other way rather than from the gear case seal/alternator wires. Yesterday it made sense but today while I took a quick look at the front pulley and coolant, I went ahead and snapped a picture of the cable that goes to the rectifier. The red and white from the rectifier are dry (and go to the battery), the same for the rubber seal around the alternator's wires... One would imagine the area to be a little wet if oil escapes this route and ends up in the front to the rectifier.
If it continues after cleaning it up as the others have suggested you might want to double check your oil pressure switch. I had a leak from there that was convinced was coming from the filter and took me a while to trace down, but the drops were from directly underneath the rectifier area as well, I thought it was spraying from the filter at high RPMs, but that was not the case and only leaked a few drops after a ride, not while cool or not running.
I noticed mine was wet with oil and dry everywhere else. I unplugged the rec/reg and it was full or oil dripping in fact. I pulled it back through the frame so I could spray contact cleaner in there and let it hang down to dry out. I went to the other side to service the air filter and noticed a puddle! Oil was dripping out of the plug! 1/2 cup ez. I let it finish and sprayed it again plugged it in and it seems fine. From what I’m reading on this thread that is “normal” I guess. I like the idea of plugging the shield tube with maybe silicone? Just to keep it out of that plug.
Had something similar to what you're describing happened to me cleaned everything up and it actually ended up being fork tube oil from a small leak that I had on the left front and it was dripping so much that it was blowing back into the front end of the bike near my shift for it peg assembly it cetera anyway when I cleaned everything up there was a ton of oil grease and grime built up around the rectifier plug and pretty much everything else in that area
