Aftermarket Exhaust for 1500A

Hi there...I just got a 1988 1500A with 9,500 miles on it. After going on a few rides with my friends, I can't hear my bike at all. LOL It has the stock exhaust and I was wondering what most people would recommend for exhaust. I see that Cobra makes some slash cut slip ons and I see MAC has some slash cut drag pipes and slash cut duals. Any advice on quality/sound/durability between the two? Any other suggestions? Thanks in advance...

I Just LOve MY V&H Long Shots Fits the bike lenght well and they sound nice and deep to me- And I do get alot of compliments on the sound too. I Have 2003 VN1500E6. My Borther has Cobra Slashes cuts -they are a liitle offset at the ends which he insist has a more natural sound - BUt all all they both sound good, still like mine better.Ha

fyi- price matters very little, when you are not happy with the sound. It's not always easy, but it's best if you can at least try & hear the exhaust BEFORE you buy. The SALES HYPE always sound good on paper. Many "systems" sound like crap!

Have not heard of the MAC system before, but that doesn't mean much...

MAC Performance Exhaust is in So Cal. They make 4 systems for the 1500 A model, all are complete from head pipe to tip. Looking at the 2" drag pipes with removable glass pack, or 2 1/4" drag pipe with removable baffle...They also make staggered duals..Great people on the phone..

re: aftermarket exhaust

Thanks for the heads-up on mac performance I`ve been looking for pipes for my `96 1500A and that is about the only one that makes it perfectly clear that they really fit a 1500A.

Re: Aftermarket Exhaust for 1500A

I like the straight look as opposed to bells. Found a nice set for my 95 1500 and think the were called Dragon something. I'll find them again and let you know. They are slash cut too (even though I prefer flat) but would look good.

If you call MAC Racing Exhaust at 951-296-3077, ask for Manny, very knowledgable about the 1500A model. In fact the 1500A Vulcan is the only Kawsaki that they make exhaust for. I think they mostly deal with Yamaha and Honda's. I know they are a true doublewalled and you can get back cut, slashcut or just round ends...
