I just pulled and cleaned the carb on my bike this past weekend...first time for the Vulcan but I've done tons n the past. The only modifications to this bike are Vance and Hines Straight Shots w/ baffles and the associated rejetting kit.
It's running really well, though it seems it could use a tweak on the mixture screw as its needing just a bit of choke for a decent idle. I'm somewhat surprised to find out that there doesn't appear to be any method for adjusting the mixture screw, short of pulling the carb, giving it 1/4 turn and then putting it all together again.
I have a mixture screw adjusting tool coming in but it doesn't look likely that it will work on this.
So...has anyone been successfull in adjusting the pilot screw on one of these with the engine running, like it should be? If so, how did you go about it?
Or does everyone just turn the screw out 3 turns and call it good?
I do have a 90 degree screwdriver coming in but I'm dubious that it will get in there.
Ultimately, I might be pulling the carb to double-check that I got the pilot passages totally cleared.
Thanks!
