05 1600 classic. Bike idles ok. Keeping it one gear down and forcing the gas seems ok it runs. Cruising, the bike bucks and will shut off. Also noticed turning on the key does not always turn on the fuel pump. Occasionally I have to turn it off then on again. Any ideas?
More information needed, fuel management installed? first thing I'd check is the battery, all sorts of weird gremlins happen when our batteries are on the way out.
Does it have an after market fuel management system, like a Cobra or something. The issues sounds electrical to me, I would first trace all the ignition wires, make sure you don't have a ground issue, also the fuel pump should be coming on for a second every time you turn the key, trace that too. maybe do it first as it may be as simple as a faulty fuel pump.
My 05 1600 had same problem, remove 3 bolt on chrome speedo cover, find the plug with hot wire under there and wiggle it, that's where my problem. Was, a loose hot wire in that plug,I checked and made sure all were pushed in far as they could go,put a drop of gorilla glued in backside, let dry, taped Conector and never did it again..good luck..
