So, finally got around to installing the Kawasaki rear seat and rear foot pegs I've had for a while since we had some freak 70* weather in February...and gave my fiance her first ride on the new bike.
Here is a general HowTo.
*Disclaimer* - I am not liable for anything you do to your bike. This is just a basic walkthrough.
Task: Install rear foot pegs on a 2015+ Kawasaki Vulcan S
Time: 20 minutes per side going really slow
Tools/Supplies Needed:
Process:
1) Here are the boxes I got. 99994-0569 is the rear seat and 99994-0570 are the rear foot pegs.
2) Here is a 'before' picture.
3) First I removed the bolts shown here. They were a somewhat small torx bit, forget the size.
4) Then, I used another smaller torx bit to remove the four screws holding the aluminum cover to the bikes side cover. Becareful as the metal tabs for the screws can slide down and get lost. Once that is removed we proceed to remove the plastic to get to the bottom bar bolt. I used a 10MM socket and extension to remove the two bolts shown here. You can't see the bottom one but if you bend down you'll see it. Once these are removed, gently pull back on the plastic cover and it will pop loose. There are three or four 'clips' that go into rubber grommets, a gentle tug should do.
5) I then removed the second cover off the rear of the bike using a 10MM socket. Becareful when removing this piece as there are two silver thing-a-magigs for the bolts we removed in step 3, they can fall out and get lost.
6) Then we remove this one bolt (you don't need to remove the other one) using a 12MM socket.
7) Lastly, remove these three bolts to remove the OEM bar from the bike. The top right and bottom left bolts are 14MM and the middle one is 12MM if I remember correctly.
8) Now swap the marked rubber pieces from the old bar to the new bar.
9) Re-install the bolts circled here with the last one being the top right one (12MM).
10) Go ahead and install your foot peg (or you can do this on a work bench when you first open the box). The instructions are pretty straight forward so follow those. You have to push the rubber boot down to get it line up.
11) Do the same to the other side. Should go faster for you now.
12) Final product.
