Yep, that windshield does not seem to be worth the money and I prefer my '15 (and the savings in price ha ha)! It'd be great to be able to find some more aftermarket accessories here in Canada though. :serious:
Great little bike, now if they would just come out with that bike configured with their 1000cc engine, do away with the monoshock and use dual shocks and add an inch or 2 travel to the rear I would definately have to have one. ( sigh!!! ) If only they would!
A couple weeks ago I took my friends 2015 Z1000 for a ride.(127 hp) Man I love the sound in inline engines but inline 4 cylinder engines gets me hard. Something like that (or the 111hp 800cc) in my Vulcan with a bit more rear suspension and a better seat and they would have a Bautista type home run!
If they made this bike in 1000 cc, it would smoke so many sport bikes including the other Kawasaki's. They are not going to do it. If they did the could just discontinue the Vulcan 900.
Not blown away by the changes. The paint scheme is fun, but nothing special. That windshield looks cool, but is in essence useless. Was really hoping to see a larger displacement and a little bigger frame....Then I'd trade my '15 in on it!
I found some for my 900 on ebay for about $80 a few years back. They were leather looking with a hidden plastic buckle that under under a chrome buckle. I had them on there for over three years and never had any issues with them. They were probably 5-6 gallon sized each.
I actually like the looks of the Cafe windscreen and would love to put that on my Vulcan S. Anything will help deflect the wind a bit, and I don't want a huge windshield on this bike.
I agree. I think it is a good alternative to a larger highway screen for smaller bikes especially for those who have to mount a parking or toll sticker onto their bikes. The cafe screen gives the area needed to tuck it away from view from the rider but keeps it in place for its purpose.
I was riding my friend's Ducati 748, which is a small and cramped sportbike, but even the small factory windscreen on the Ducati offers more wind protection than the stock Vulcan S.
I too was surprised at how much wind there is without any windshield. I have a small Slipstream Spitfire that installs and removes in seconds. I leave it off for hot days and around town driving but put it on the the highway. After 20 minutes without it on the highway there is just a bit too much wind push in my chest and fatigue would set in after an hour long ride. With it on it cuts just enough wind to enjoy the ride. I think the Cafe style would do the same thing, just to get the wind blast off the body like so many sport bikes do.
Well it's definitely 'each to their own'. I hate the look of that cafe screen and it's useless and overpriced. Whilst the large screen is also hugely over priced I think it looks great and really suits the style of the Vulcan S. Just my opinion like!
LOL. That's funny and I got a scooter too.... I had to put the large windshield on my Vulcan S and I don't like the look either, but WTH.... I'll give up looks so I can ride it.
Sign me up for the 1000 cc Vulcan S with the Ninja engine. Also please put in shaft drive or at least a belt.
The Triumph Thunderbird Storm has 1700 cc parallel engine and handles like a dream but weighs about 850 lbs wet. Ran one for 4 years and loved it but too heavy.
Had a belt drive.
I predict a 1000 S Vulcan next year! Also a Yamaha triple cruiser soon
I would love it if I could put a 1000cc engine in my Vulcan. I wonder if it would fit now? Has anyone been able to get a few more horses out of these these engines yet? I was thinking of changing out my front sprocket up a tooth to give me a little more top end speed and drop the rpm a little when traveling hwy speeds.
I'd be game for a 900-1000cc version but if they did that it would probably replace the 900 custom I guess they could keep the 900 classic line and change the custom lineup to S style, I would like the 1000cc to be about 10% bigger though
