Doesn't need to be at "F" as long as you can get the cam out. Take the timing chain tensioner out first. Sometimes the is enough slack you can lift the end of the cam away from the sprocket and work the chain off the cam sprocket without removing the bolts.
Oh ok cool thanks I was wondering how I was going to get it out thought it had to be on "F"

It maybe time to start looking for a new engine.
What is the difference between the meanstreak and classic engine ? just cams and efi?

Keep tearing it down and see if you can find the cause of your problem.
Do not right it off just yet.
It would be nice to plot the sequence of events...eg. maybe something like this:

1. Something on clutch came loose.
2. That item snagged crankcase bolt and broke the case.
3. Part of crankcase is wedged between ??? and ??? causing the crank not to turn.
