i'm in the same boat - looking at a Corbin seat (don't want to spend that much) but I just bought an airhawk seat pad. I am still playing with the amount of air in it and have only taken a few short city trips with it on - but it has made a noticeable difference even on short trips.
The AirHawk made my original 150 mile seat into a 350+ mile seat. And when I changed seats *that* seat went from a 500 mile seat to a 1,000+ mile seat.
My Saddleman solo seat has gel. It's better than the stock seat for sure! One big drawback to gel seats: they absorb heat. Gel seats will grill your rear-end if left out in the hot sun. Heck, they'll absorb the heat while riding in the hot sun. I can't comment on the airhawk. You might try Amazon for a seat. I snagged my Saddlemen solo seat for $200 used and it was fine. They typically run for close to $300 new.
Another vote for the airhawk here! I've had one for about 7 years. Still great. Like D-dub says, you've got to follow the instructions. It takes very little air!
I believe that's due to overinflation. If you're bouncy, you've got way too much air in it. Going by memory you're only supposed to have enough air to separate you from your seat.... barely! Most people I know that have gotten the Airhawk don't like it at first. In every case, they overinflated it. I did the same when I first got it. In this case, the least amount of air is best. It's not really intended to be a cushion; it's supposed to increase the surface contact area of your butt to lessen "hot" spots. Mine looks completely deflated when I unzip the cover and look at it.
