Hi friends, if I'm a sixty year old weekend rider only in summer, what kind of helmet do you recommend, plus I want one of those loose fitting european looking motorcycle jackets that are fabric, not leather, where can I look? Haven't had any luck on Amazon, please advise, thNKS, PETE

I wouldn't buy any helmet I couldn't try on, because head shape is everything. As for cost, a good friend once said that if I didn't have the money for a decent helmet, I surely didn't have it for treating brain damage for the rest of my life! Happy hunting!

I couldn't agree more with Patrick's1500 on this one...

Here's the whole risk in "buying without trying"...

Try Bull Faster Inc, that's what I have...I really like the matching zipper attached fabric pants and jacket at a fraction of the price of other brands I've seen.
I found them at a local bike shop in Calgary, I see that they are an importer from Montreal. I don't know whether it's imported into Canada from Europe or the US. Give them a look, I don't think that you will be disappointed. ?

It's common for "Harley" helmets to be made by another company, rebranded, and marked up. Example (click on the "Features" tab and it will say, "Manufactured for Harley-Davidson by ___.")
Capstone SunShield Modular Helmet | Modular | Official Harley-Davidson Online Store ($250)
vs
https://www.revzilla.com/motorcycle/hjc-is-max-2-helmet-solid ($210)

Or
Men's FXRG Modular Helmet | FXRG | Official Harley-Davidson Online Store ($525)
vs
https://www.revzilla.com/motorcycle/hjc-rpha-max-helmet-solid ($460)

If you find a helmet you like at the Harley shop, you could always just note the model, then research it and find out who makes the original.

As far as jackets, here's a post from two weeks ago that gives some ideas:

If you can find a place selling last years jacket you can get a great deal. I keep going back to a basic scorpion helmet. Thay are not the cheapest helmet but by far not even close the the most. Bottom line is if it is not comfortable it doea not matter the cost because comfort is what will keep you putting it on. I looked at many higher priced hwlmets and they just dont fit right.
